The Council of Somali Organisation (CSO) is a second-tier organisation based in London at the forefront of helping to build a strong and effective voice for the Somali community in London. Since its inception it now works actively with up to 110 Somali organisations in London, which mainly provide front-line 

Our core objectives are:  

  • To champion the aspirations and views of Somali organisations and diaspora in London and eventually the UK
  • Through policy work and campaigns influence local and central government policies in order to improve the conditions of Somali communities.
  • Through research provide a true picture of Somali communities living in the UK
  • To provide high-quality organisational capacity building and technical support that will improve service delivery of our members  
  • To build and support collaboration between Somali and non-Somali organisations and local authorities and statutory bodies

We are looking for an energetic and organised person who is highly passionate about working with Somalis and people from different cultural backgrounds, to join the small team of the charity. The post is part-time:

  • Director – 5  days – 35 hours per week

The post of Director is required to support the CSO Board, lead on the strategic development of the Organisation, develop and maintain relationships with key funders, partners and members of CSO and manage the day-to-day running of the Organisation.

The post is fixed term until the 31st of March 2020 (continuation is subject to further funding being secured).  

Salary: £32-000 - 36,000 (subject to experience) including ILW pro-rata
